Medway Tonbridge to Yalding Oct 23




On a nice sunny day a group from the club met at the club container to load up sea/touring kayaks. We then drove to Tonbridge Castle for the put in of the Tonbridge to Yalding section of the River Medway. We did a quick car shuttle so that we had a car at Yalding. This is a great section that is scenic and made more interesting by having numerous weirs on it with specially designed canoe shoots. These vary in size and difficulty. The last two are fairly large but easy and safe to run. The paddle took just under 3 hours in long boats. It can be done in shorter kayaks but takes longer. Post paddle refreshments were had in the Boathouse pub before paddling back. Pics and video clips in link below:
